Day 1 Fly to Lubjana, Slovenia
Fly from London Gatwick ( some other airports also available) to the Slovenian capital Lubjana. Here you meet your driver and transfer into the heart of this charming city. You have the remainder of the day to relax and explore your surroundings. Three nights in Lubjana
Day 2 - Private guided tour of Lubjana
See all the main city sights and best places in Ljubljana and get to know its historical and cultural side. Walk through the medieval Old Town and see the main attractions such as the Triple Bridge, St. Nicholas Cathedral, and more. With your guide you spend the afternoon delving deeper into the medieval Old Town on the banks of Ljubljanica River, visit the city’s bustling central market and discover boutique shops and charming restaurants.
Day 3 – Visit Bled with your private guide
In the morning drive to pearl of the Julian Alps, the wonderfully romantic town of Bled.. Visit the famous and stunning Bled Lake and Bled Castle. The castle stands on a rock approximately 100 yards above the lake with wonderful views of the town, lake and surrounding countryside offering incredible photo opportunities.
Within the castle there is the museum, located in the baroque rooms which take visitors on a journey celebrating the eventful history of Bled from the time when the first settlements in the area appeared to the present day. The furnishing of the museum interprets settlement culture over different eras..
Continue to Bohinj Lake and to Mt. Vogel cable car: Ascend by cable car to the top of Mt. Vogel, offering amazing panoramic cviews over the surrounding national park and surrounding area.
On the top you have some great dining options - The mountain hut at Zadnji Vogel offers the homemade traditional Slovenian dish koruzni z?ganci, an Alpine dairyman's cold platter, homemade schnapps, whey and cottage cheese strudel. Afterwards, you can explore Bohinj Lake and village of Ribcev Laz before return back to Ljubljana for the night.
Day 4 Visiting Lipica – Horses and History!!
After breakfast leave Lubjana and head out to Lipica in the Karst region. Enjoy a relaxing walk in the grounds of the Lipica Stud Farm famous for being the birthplace of the Lipizzaner horses - one of the oldest stud farms in the world with a tradition dating back to 1580!
Visit Satanjel, one of the oldest settlements in Slovenia and untouched for centuries. Due to its strategic location, the hill was already populated in prehistoric times and was fortified in antiquity. The characteristic defensive wall from the 15th century protected the inhabitants during the Turkish invasions. Between the two world wars, the architect and then mayor of S?tanjel Max Fabiani left his mark here. During World War II, the settlement was partly destroyed by fire and the castle was heavily damaged. The revitalization of the village centre started in the 1960s and has continued to this day. After World War II, a new part of the settlement developed on a plane below the old village centre.
Leave Stanjl and head to the Postojna caves, formed from the surrounding limestone the intricate network of cave formations which can be explored by train!!
Day 5 – Piran and Truffle hunting
Today you head out to Slovenia’s small section of coast, the town of Piran which has as strong Venetian influence. Explore the seaside town and the picturesque medieval centre including the Maritime museum, the best views are from the nearby hill, offering one of Slovenia’s most famous vistas out over the Adriatic sea.
From here you visit the nearby Fonda Fish Farm Tour of the fish farm with demonstration of fish feeding, explaining the way fish are farmed and what makes the Piran Bass unique!
Afterwards, continue to traditional Istrian village of Abitanti where you embark on an afternoon of truffle hunting. Truffle is a king in the culinary. Slovenian Istria boast with numerous spots where this precious specialty is growing, head out with local guide Dejan and his trusty dog to find this hidden treats! After foraging in the surrounding woodlands head back to the house for a tasting session.
Return to Lubjana for your final night in Slovenia
Day 6–Fly back to the UK
Check out this morning and transfer to the airport for your flight back to the UK.
