Then in summer 2020, they both Matthew and Sarah contracted COVID-19. During their recovery they decided they wanted to do something that would ‘give back’, both to those who were helping to combat the virus and to those who were also suffering in the travel industry.
Matthew’s 15+ years experience working in successful travel businesses allowed him to utilise his black book of professional contacts. He was overwhelmed by the universal support and encouragement he recieved to get this project up and running. Matthew and Sarah then set about finding a technology partner, and approached Superluminal Software in Oxford for their help. They were delighted to assist, providing the design & build of the online platform at significant discount, and the hosting via their sister company Perfect Web Design Abingdon for free, for which Charity Travel Auction is immensely grateful for.
